Winners were announced at a virtual ceremony on 7th October (sadly no swanky awards dinner and champagne this year!). LEH was up against stiff competition in this category from some excellent schools; the other finalists were Benenden School, Downe House, Harrogate Ladies’ College and St Mary’s School, Cambridge.
The judge declaring the award, Philippa Scudds, Director of Marketing and Communications at Canford School, stated: “All this year’s entries were really strong, but for its values led approach to the education of girls, focusing on resilience and permeating across all aspects of school life and relationships, this year’s winner is Lady Eleanor Holles School.”
Mrs Hanbury shared the good news with the staff. “In order to win this award, LEH had to persuade judges that we are delivering excellence across the board – and we could only do that thanks to everyone who works at LEH, actually delivering this excellence. We won this against some very impressive (and famous) competition, so many congratulations to you all!”
The Independent Schools of the Year awards 2021 celebrate all that students, staff and wider school communities have achieved during the 2020-21 academic year, both in terms of the battle against COVID and their core task of preparing their students for life in a challenging and demanding world.
