Children in Need 2021

2 December 2021

The girls did their sponsored walk from Clayton Village over the South Downs and back into Lewes – dressed up for the occasion of course (see picture).

Organiser Deleece Tapping said: “As a result of lock down and walking with families, the girls were much better walkers then several years ago when we did this. Some 96 girls walked from Clayton Rec up the hill to the windmills then along the top to Lewes. They kept themselves going by munching on sweets and snacks and we had a round of happy birthday for two of the girls with birthdays when we stopped at Ditchling beacon for a rest. We are almost on £4000 so it was a great effort by all. Now the girls asked if we could do this every Friday.”

And back at the prep school, the younger girls raised their own funds with sponsored dressing up in yellow and spots and making Pudsey Bear Christmas cards. Prep school teacher Sue Collins said: “The girls had a great day. Our target of £500 has been smashed! £884 raised so far!”

Headteacher Liz Laybourn said: “The girls put in a great effort and it felt fantastic that this year we were able to help Children In Need after the disruptions of the last 18 months.”
