CLC named Top Independent School in the South West

14 December 2021

Cheltenham Ladies’ College is delighted to be named the Top Independent School in the South West by ‘Parent Power’, The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2022. The news follows the accolade of CLC being named South West Independent School of the Decade in the ‘Parent Power’ Schools Guide 2021, paying tribute to the hard work and accomplishments of College’s teaching and support staff, pupils and alumnae over the last 10 years.

The 29th edition of Parent Power identifies the highest-achieving schools in the UK, ranked by their examination results from 2017-19.

This places CLC above all independent schools in the region; a position that is reflected by the core data for each set of results, as well as the guide’s ranking system.

The news follows the accolade of College being named South West Independent School of the Decade in the ‘Parent Power’ Schools Guide 2021, paying tribute to the hard work and accomplishments of College’s teaching and support staff, pupils and alumnae over the last 10 years.

College’s consistently excellent GCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme results represent a compelling testimony to their pupils’ achievements, and the public examination results reflect the commitment, dedication and hard work of both the girls and the academic staff.

However, academic excellence at College concerns much more than exam grades at CLC. Each girl is encouraged to fulfil her potential in an inspiring, happy, supportive and caring environment. Pupils are provided with the skills and confidence to have a positive influence in the world, with the aim of educating the whole person and also celebrating their achievements on a personal level and through co-curricular pursuits.

A significant number of leavers go on to excel at university and secure employment in a wide range of spheres. CLC’s Class of 2021 saw 91% of students achieve their first choice or preferred university place. Students took up places at a variety of destinations both in the UK (90% of UK destinations are Russell Group) and at prestigious institutions around the world including Yale and Johns Hopkins in the US, Bocconi in Italy and the University of Hong Kong.
