FHS Regent’s Park opens state-of-the-art new Art, Drama and Music Facilit

2 December 2021

We set ourselves the goal of emerging stronger than ever from the pandemic in this regard and, following our Acceleration Project, a successful fundraising initiative we undertook back in January and February 2021, we were able to invest in brand new Art, Drama and Music Studios. Thanks to our generous donors, we completed transformational refurbishment works in a variety of areas over Summer 2021.

We were hugely honoured to welcome Damien Lewis OBE to open our new Drama Theatre, the Helen McCrory Studio Theatre, in honour of his late wife, a brilliant actress who made an unrivalled contribution to Drama at FHS. Helen was a great advocate of the importance of strong Arts programmes within education and did extensive work with the HVH Arts Charity in Camden, one of our charity partners of which Mr Lewis is also a patron, which supports disadvantaged children in achieving their true creative potential.

Our guests were given guided group tours of our new facilities, where our girls were showcasing the consistently high calibre of work they produce during their Art, Drama and Music lessons and co-curricular activities. Our GCSE and A Level artists were hard at work producing stunning pieces of art in our new Art Studios, using an impressive variety of mediums. In the Helen McCrory Studio Theatre, girls performed mesmerising costume rehearsals for the upcoming performance of Jane Eyre at the Steiner Theatre. Finally, our musicians performed high level solo performances using a wide variety of instruments and treated our guests to a jaw-droppingly brilliant rehearsal for Dido & Aeneas by our Sixth Form Opera Singers and accompanying Lower School Choir.

Thank you so much to all of our guests who attended, particularly Mr Lewis, and made the event such a success, and to all of our donors who have enabled us to offer such an outstanding and all-encompassing Arts education across the board.
