St Mary’s Calne girls selected for England Lacrosse Academy Team

18 January 2022

Following success in the extremely competitive trials for the England Lacrosse National Academy in the autumn, Sixth Form students Amy Bolton (Upper Sixth) and Lily Mallinson (Lower Sixth) have been selected to represent the England U20 Academy Team. The girls have been invited to play with the U20 Team in Prague at the end of August 2022.

Head of Lacrosse at St Mary’s Calne, Mr David Abini, commented: ‘The girls should be extremely proud on being selected for the England Academy Team. They have trained extremely hard and thoroughly deserve their places in the squad. Many congratulations girls!’

Meanwhile, three St Mary’s Calne alumnae, Lottie Paterson (2016 Leaver), Ella Malik (2020 Leaver), and Lizzie Rutherford (2021 Leaver), are all playing in the 21/22 England U23 Women’s Lacrosse squad, with Ella and Lottie also having been recently selected to represent England in Portugal this year in The European Lacrosse Sixes Cup. The event, which is set to take place in February, will be the first European-based international event featuring World Lacrosse Sixes – a shorter, faster and non-stop version of the game which has been designed to be played at the Olympic Games.

Congratulations to all the girls on these fantastic sporting achievements.
