Headington Pupils’ Dance Success

24 February 2022

A celebration of stunning group and solo dances lit up Headington’s Theatre for a joyful and moving return to live dance.

On 16th and 17th February 2022, over 150 Headington Senior School dancers took part in the annual Mind, Body and Soul Dance Show.

The girls have missed out on a few years of live shows due to COVID-19 and so they were thrilled to be able to put on a dazzling dance performance once more!

The show saw a broad variety of dance styles including Ballet, Contemporary and Street Dance, and featured plenty of girls’ own choreography as well as class performances.

Miss Faith Jackson, Director of Dance said: “We are delighted to have been able to organise this year’s exciting Mind, Body and Soul Dance Show and to be back in the Theatre showcasing Headington dancers’ outstanding work! They have worked incredibly well demonstrating commitment, focus and exceptional ability performing to a high standard and the dancers should be very proud of all of their hard work.

“We were so pleased to welcome an audience to the Theatre to see their superb dance work. We are incredibly proud of all the dancers and their work and want to send our congratulations to all who were involved!

“We look forward to future dance events taking place and we hope to see you there.”

Congratulations also go to Madeleine (Mads), Headington’s U6 A Level Dancer and Performing Arts scholar who has successfully auditioned for the NYDC. Mads will be working under the world-renowned artistic director, performer, choreographer and teacher Alesandra Seutin.

Over 200 dancers auditioned for the company this year and Mads is one of just 18 female dancers and four male dancers chosen to join the 2021/22 cohort.

Miss Jackson said: “This is an exceptional achievement and we are all thrilled for Mads and very proud of her, we wish her the best of luck with the upcoming residencies and performances!”
