Talbot Health School pupil wins Inspiring Young Chef Awards

7 February 2022

Congratulations to year 11 pupil, Elle, who came second in the Inspiring Culinary Generations [ICG] Cookery Competition National Final. Established in 2012, the Awards were designed to acknowledge and encourage excellence in the catering industry and in the home. The competition has not offered a second place in previous years, but because the standard was extremely high and the margins very slim between Elle and the winner, the judges decided to create a second place to recognise her efforts. Elle is 16 years old and was competing against 17 and 18 year olds who have been at catering college for two years already, whereas Elle has had no formal training or experience, neither had she cooked in an industrial kitchen before, making her performance even more impressive. She said, ‘It was a really great experience and when I leave school I hope to go on the specialised chefs course with Bournemouth College and train in some of the best restaurants in the country.’

The school community wishes Elle the very best on her culinary journey.
