A huge well done to all the girls who took part in the Young Enterprise 10X challenge.
Queen’s entered 10 teams in total, four from Year 12, four from Year 8 and two from Year 10. After pitching their business plan to our panel of judges, the top four Year 8 teams were chosen and given £10 to start their business. They used it to make their products which ranged from books to bracelets and lip gloss which they sold at various events around the school.
The most successful business was team Illuminate, made up of five Year 10 girls and managed with purpose and passion by Zara. Ably assisted by Maggie, Alexa, Alice and Abbey, the girls made and sold tea light candle holders in a variety of colours.
In addition to selling their products at various events around school, including the Matilda production and Celebrating Queen’s event, the girls also went the extra mile and sold their product outside of school making over £800 profit as a result.
Head of Business and Economics at Queen’s Mr Durkin said: “Team illuminate hit the ground running from the word go, presenting a superb business plan and model to sell their product. They did a great job marketing them to their target audience as the perfect Mother’s Day gift and the reasonable price tag led to a superb number of sales. I am really proud of their attitude and dedication to this project and it is clear we have some impressive enterprising students across the school with a promising future in business.”
The girls are donating their profits to North Clwyd Animal Rescue and The British Heart Foundation.
