Northampton High School celebrates wonderful student talent with their Arts Week

27 June 2022

A Northamptonshire school has celebrated the achievements of its students by holding its annual Arts Festival. Northampton High School, based in Hardingstone, hosts the week long festival every year, which proves to be an excellent way of showcasing their students’ artistic flair.

The Creative Arts at Northampton High covers a broad breadth of subjects. Alongside their fantastic arts area, the school also boasts excellent music, theatre, fashion, food and poetry departments, which are all proudly presented at this week-long celebration. In what was the first in-person celebration since 2019, the school was keen to pull out all the stops, and they kicked off the week with a cartooning and illustration masterclass with award-winning author Dave Shelton.

On Tuesday, the school opened its doors for its marquee Arts Invitational, which gave parents and special guests the opportunity to view the excellent work created by students during the past year. The evening played host to live drama performances, pop-up musical shows, cooking demonstrations and more, with the schools classrooms and hallways being transformed to exhibit the stellar art and textiles work completed by the school’s students aged 4-18. The week was brought to a close in grand fashion with the school’s showpiece drama production. This year’s production of ‘Seussical’ was the best yet, and not only showcased the skills of the school’s budding actors, but its entire art department too, with students contributing to create an incredible set and imaginative outfits.

The School’s Head of Creative Arts, Mel Beacroft, was delighted with the festival, and the opportunity to welcome parents and guests back into school, “Northampton High School has always held a huge commitment to the world of the arts, and it’s fantastic to showcase this in our annual festival. The skill and creativity of our students knows no bounds and it’s fantastic to be able to showcase this to our local community”.
