Royal High School Bath celebrates International Women in Engineering Day

23 June 2022

Royal High School Bath has been celebrating International Women in Engineering Day by shining a spotlight on inspirational female engineers and organising an engineering challenge for year eight students.

On Thursday 23 June, students took part in an activity where they had to build a tower over 75cm tall that would hold 40g of weight. Each group had to plan their building project, use an allocated budget to purchase building materials and build a tower ready for judging.

Kate Reynolds, Head of Royal High School Bath, said: “Our aim for International Women in Engineering Day is to inspire our students and encourage conversations around science, engineering and technology. As a girls’ school we are incredibly proud of the strong and independent women that leave our school and who feel determined to choose this career path.”

International Women in Engineering Day is an initiative created by the Women’s Engineering Society, an organisation who play a vital role in encouraging more young women to take up engineering careers.
