Adam Peaty Race Clinics comes to Berkhamsted School

26 August 2022

Peaty is an eight-time World Champion, sixteen-time European Champion and four-time Commonwealth Champion. He also holds the world record in 50 metre and 100 metre breaststroke events.

‘Adam Peaty Race Clinics’ was founded in May 2019, by Adam Peaty and his training partner at the time, Edward Baxter. The aim of the race clinic was to transform the way traditional swim clinics run by teaching young swimmers how to race.

Swimmers from three local swimming clubs, Berkhamsted, Tring and Hemel Hempstead were notified about the tour and each offered one free place, funded by Berkhamsted School, for their swimmers to join the clinic. Each swimming club was able to use this opportunity to raise funds for their own clubs through raffle ticket sales.

The clubs were able to jointly announce the launch of the event and offer the opportunity to their members to join the full day race clinic, allowing 100 children to experience first-hand personal tuition from Adam Peaty himself. Additionally, 12 coaches from local swim clubs and Berkhamsted School are being given the opportunity of training alongside Adam’s coaches to watch and learn from his team, which in turn will benefit many more children who have been unable to attend the course.

AP Race Clinic:

The race clinic will be split into four stations: Swim Station, Gym Station, Racing Edge Station, and Parent Support Station. Each station is run by experts in the field and offers not only the children, but also the parents the opportunity to ask questions and learn. The swimmers can expect to learn about the techniques involved in the Breaststroke and how to maximise efficiency when swimming. There will also be opportunities to learn outside the pool, focusing on swimming specific gym work and acquiring knowledge in how mindset can improve performance.

The day will be finished with a Q&A, where attendees will get the chance to listen to Adam speak about his swimming journey and how he came to be the most successful English swimmer.

We eagerly look forward to welcoming Adam Peaty and his team to Berkhamsted School.
