18 August 2022

They achieved an exceptional 33% A*; 67% A*- A; 91% A*- B which are the best A level examination results in the history of the school (even exceeding the Centre Assessed Grades awarded in 2020).

Departing Headmistress, Angela Drew, commented, “We can only applaud this year’s Upper Sixth for these stunning results. It takes real grit and resolution to face your first public examinations at 18 with your university place at stake and in schools across the country this cohort of A level students have risen brilliantly to meet that unprecedented challenge. I am immensely proud of all that our girls have achieved.”

Bromley High maintains its traditional strength in STEM subjects (with 44% of Biology results at A*) enabling this year’s cohort to study degrees in Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, Pharmacy, Psychology and Neuroscience but this outstanding set of results was equally reflective of the school’s excellence in the Arts with 100% of entries in Art, Photography, Dance and Music achieving A*. An impressive 94% of all pupils achieved their first or second university choice.

Music Scholar Maya Tucker achieved A*s in Music and History and A in Classical Civilisation and will study at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music on the BMus First Study Cello course. “I am extremely grateful to the Music Department for supporting me through this journey and to the school for awarding me a Sixth Form scholarship to enable me to realise this dream.”

With more than two thirds of all A levels awarded A*s or A, there were successes to celebrate across the year group. Elite swimmers Annabel Smith and Evie Davis, both achieved 3 A*s. Annabel in Business, Economics and Geography and Evie, who has just returned from competing in the Commonwealth Games, in Design Technology, Mathematics and Psychology. Elizabeth Czachowski-Celis (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics), Shayana Dattani (English Literature, Politics and Psychology) and Jasmine Mir (Biology, Geography, Psychology) all achieved 3 A*s with Elizabeth and Jasmine also achieving an A* in the Extended Project.
