SIX: Teen Edition performed for the first time

10 August 2022

The new ‘Teen Edition’ of the smash-hit, Tony Award-winning musical SIX has been performed for the first time.

SIX: TEEN EDITION is a full-length adaptation of Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’ international phenomenon SIX, modified for performance by teen actors for family audiences.

North London Collegiate School performed the world premiere of the SIX: TEEN EDITION on 29 and 30 June.

“We are so thrilled to have been the first school to perform Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’s SIX: TEEN EDITION, a show about women reclaiming their story from the history books. Young women today are coming of age facing many challenges, but the vitality and joy of the show is inspirational and provides an incredible opportunity for young people to engage with history in a way that really speaks to them. Schools are places where so many special memories are made, and this production is something which our students will cherish forever.”

The original creative team, including writers Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss were in attendance.

Writer Toby Marlow said: “We wrote the show when we were students ourselves and now to see it performed by students with such unbelievable talent and energy is very overwhelming and special to see.”

With the SIX: TEEN EDITION, schools across the UK are invited to create their own, unique productions.

Schools purchasing a license for this multi-award-winning musical from Concord Theatricals will receive a production guide with tips from the original creative team. This includes an introduction from writers Toby Marlow & Lucy Moss, behind-the-scenes descriptions of the creative process on choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, costume design by Gabriella Slade, directing by Lucy Moss & Jamie Armitage, lighting by Tim Deiling, music by Tom Curran, set design by Emma Bailey, sound design by Paul Gatehouse and vocals by Joe Beighton.

Vivien Goodwin, SVP, Concord Theatricals (Europe), Concord Theatricals, said: “It is a truly exciting time for school performances – the landscape is changing for the upcoming stars of tomorrow’s West End. In a time of increasing stress on our young people, the performing arts can have a huge impact on their confidence, friendships, and overall wellbeing. Concord Theatricals is proud to play our part in helping them feel creative and confident – whether on stage, behind-the-scenes or in the audience – and we hope that, above all, the schools licensing new productions of SIX: TEEN EDITION have as much fun performing this musical as we’ve had working with the creators on this version.”
