Francis Holland School, Regent’s Park Launches Hale Lecture Series

4 November 2022

Lady Hale spoke, to a large student audience, of her amazing journey from growing up in a small Yorkshire village to eventually becoming the first female President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. She went into detail about her impressive career and the adversity she overcame to become a trailblazer for women in the House of Lords and beyond. Her determination, tenacity and graft are truly admirable qualities and her inspiring story makes her a remarkable woman and the perfect namesake for this new series.

The Hale Lecture Series is an opportunity to spark excitement and enjoyment in learning beyond the classroom. It will run throughout the academic year and will be available to all FHS pupils, parents, teachers and alumni, as well as neighbouring schools, including St Marylebone School. The programme aims to provide a balance and breadth of learning, to complement the depth and specialisms in the curriculum and to stimulate pupils’ intellectual curiosity and appetite to learn from experts in their respective fields. It will also provide a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to develop their public speaking skills by introducing speakers and leading Q&As.

The School is now looking forward to welcoming gender equality campaigner Gina Martin as the second speaker in this exciting series. Watch this space!
