Luisa from Lower 5 has been selected to participate in Swim England’s Bristol Talent Centre for water polo.

The talent centre, launched by Swim England, is part of an exciting new water polo initiative aimed at improving the performance of England and Great Britain players when they compete internationally.

The program’s goal is to increase the frequency of high-quality training and coaching available to young water polo players like Luisa.

The Bristol Talent Centre is one of four across the country that will provide elite coaching to players born between 2007 and 2010. Those chosen alongside Luisa will receive weekly or fortnightly coaching from a team of experienced international coaches.

Each talent centre will also select a team to represent them at the Talent Games, where they will compete for the title of talent centre national champions. This will give aspiring international players the opportunity to play full games, face some of the best players in the country, and get a taste of international standard water polo.

Headmistress at St Swithun’s, Ms Jane Gandee said: “Pupils and staff at the school are extremely proud of Luisa’s achievement. This is an excellent opportunity that she richly deserves and we cannot wait to see how she continues to progress.”

Luisa is thrilled to be a part of the programme saying: “I am so happy I made it through the selection process for the Bristol Talent Centre. My goal is to play water polo at national level so this is a massively important step in the right direction. I am looking forward to making the most of this opportunity and the training I will receive. My next target is to be selected to represent Bristol TC at the Talent Games at the end of March.”
