An outstanding performance

Huge congratulations must go to all the cast and crew of ‘Be my Baby’ by Amanda Whittington, which was performed this week in The Queen’s School hall to fantastic reviews.

The music of the 1960’s perfectly encapsulated this era of innocence and romance and became the backdrop to the story of four unmarried and pregnant teenagers, forced to give their babies up for adoption in a mother and baby home in 1964.

The cast handled the complexities of this storyline, with emotional precision; portraying the lovely camaraderie and strong friendships formed by the girls and provided moments of endearing comedy and touching poignancy.

Headmistress Sue Wallace Woodroffe watched both performances. She said: ‘I am so proud of the cast and crew involved in what was truly an exceptional production. I was blown away both nights by the impressive comedic timing and the mix of emotions portrayed meant that laughter and tears were never too far apart! The quality of our school productions never ceases to amaze me! They are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our superb drama department as well as the committed cast and crew who have worked tirelessly to bring this show to our stage. Well done to everyone involved!’
