Withington Girls’ School has achieved its highest ever ranking by School Sport Magazine as a top sporting school in the UK. Of all the schools listed in the ‘Top 200 Sporting Schools of 2022’, WGS is named 43rd.
The ranking includes both independent and state schools, co-ed, all-boys, and all-girls schools, and it is based on performance in national competitions.
Miss Jennifer Carter, Acting Head of PE said: “This is an amazing achievement for our hardworking pupils and dedicated PE Department after an incredibly successful 2021-22 season.”
The 2021-22 season saw Withington win its first national lacrosse title and secure a bronze medal in the national netball finals. Our U14 netball team have again qualified for England Netball’s National Schools Final in March and our U19 and U14 lacrosse teams will compete in their respective finals at the National Schools Lacrosse Championships.
