Loughborough High School pupil Etty Sisson has been presented with the Sports Personality of the Year Award at the High School’s very first Senior Sports Dinner.

Etty, a 400m runner for Team GB who bought home a gold medal at the European Under 18s Athletics Championships, was one of several year 12 and 13 female pupils from across the Loughborough Schools Foundation who’s sporting success was commended at the awards evening.

The evening of celebrations, which included a formal dinner and speeches, was held on 21 April at Loughborough High School and marked the successes of the Foundation’s talented sportswomen, whilst recognising their incredible achievements.

Jo Hackett, Director of Sport for the Loughborough Schools Foundation said: “We’re so proud of the girls and their amazing sporting achievements and it was great to be able to properly celebrate them at this special event. We were delighted to have Great Britain 7’s rugby player Abi Burton with us on the evening to share her inspirational story and present the girls with their awards, it was a wonderful evening for all involved.”

Coaches Player of the Year Awards went to Molly, Lizzy, Esther, Annabel and Hannah, whilst Players Player of the Year Awards were received by Molly, Roma, Holly, Tamara and Marinella.

A special mention was given to those presented with the Team of the Year Award, which was given to the 1st XI Hockey team after their superb cup run, culminating in finishing runners-up at the National Tier 3 Hockey Finals at Lea Valley Stadium in London.

Additionally, the Headmistress’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to Senior School Sport was presented to Annabel, and the Sports Personality of the Year Award, presented to Etty.
