Join Us – Full Membership

Who is eligible?

Full membership is open to any individual who is the head of an independent UK school which educates girls within a single-sex environment for all or part of the 4-18 age range. Your school must be fee-charging, in all or in part; your governing body must be a member of AGBIS; and you (the Head) must be a member of ASCL or NAHT.

NB. GSA carries out accreditation visits for all prospective members and requires you to provide an inspection report. It is a condition of membership that you attend the New Heads’ Induction course. If you are the Head of a diamond school, when you become a member whoever is in charge of girls’ education in your school is eligible for complimentary membership.

  • Secretariat support – information, guidance and help from a dedicated secretariat
  • Professional development – opportunities for heads and other members of your school team to meet and work collaboratively, sharing best practice and opportunities on a national, regional and special-interest basis
  • Good practice guidance – information and advice to encourage best practice
  • Appraisal resources – practical help for conducting and receiving appraisals
  • Student opportunities – involve your students in inter-school GSA events, tournaments etc
  • INSET and speaker inspiration – access to our list of GSA member-approved speakers and training providers
  • Regional meetings – meet heads and other key players to discuss issues close to home
  • Access to the GSA online member zone – information, advice and best practice
  • Pastoral visits – GSA representatives make individual visits to understand & support you
  • ISC membership – with induction and access to ISI, and NQT through ISTIP

Annual subscriptions are invoiced at the start of each academic year and payable by BACS transfer.
