Derby High Schoolupcoming open day (click for details)
As an Independent day school, at Derby High we are proud of our reputation for academic excellence and we enjoy a wide catchment area with pupils travelling in from all over Derbyshire and East Staffordshire to learn with us. Most importantly, we value the genuine sense of community we foster in the school, where pupils of all abilities, talents and backgrounds work and play harmoniously together, enjoying a wide range of opportunities which gives each of them the chance to discover and develop their individual talents.
Gifted & Talented
We have a wide range of provision for stretching and challenging the most able, including in-school enrichment clubs from Y7 to 13, participation in national competitions such as the Chemistry Olympiad and partnerships with external organisations such as the Engineering Development Trust.
The school will do all that is reasonable in the case of each pupil to detect and deal appropriately with a learning difficulty or disability which amounts to a special educational need.
Bursaries & Scholarships
Assisted places are available to pupils who would otherwise not be able to benefit from the education offered at Derby High School. The maximum value of an Assisted Place is normally 50% of the basic school fee. Assisted places are means tested and are only offered in the Senior School.
A range of Scholarships are available from Year 7 and Year 12 and generally hold a value of between £1,000 – £2,500 which is discounted from the full year’s fee.
