Farlington is an independent day and boarding school, providing exceptional, all-round education for children aged 4 – 18. In September 2018 we were delighted to welcome boys into our Reception class. This exciting move towards a co-educational Prep School will be gradual and our existing classes in the Prep and Pre-Prep will remain girls only.

We are a school that values individuality, celebrates diversity and encourages our pupils to have the confidence to think for themselves, whilst emphasising the importance of tolerance, teamwork and collective responsibility. Each child, from Reception through to Sixth Form, is known and valued as an individual, and contributes uniquely to our happy, successful and purposeful environment.

It is our goal that students leave Farlington as well-educated young people with strong interpersonal skills and a broad range of interests. They will have the confidence to pursue their personal goals and to make a positive contribution to the wider community.

Wellbeing at Farlington

Farlington has a very strong pastoral vision. We have a whole school ethos to wellbeing, promoting a positive and holistic approach to good mental health. In practice, this means that we encourage an engaged and enthusiastic approach to life, from awareness of healthy eating, exercise and relaxation to strategies on how to cope when the examination season hits! The introduction of Wellbeing Representatives from each form ensures that this outlook is filtered throughout the whole school. Activities include a Boast Board and specific events throughout the year.

In recent years the importance of increasing resilience levels in young people has been highlighted and Farlington is proud to say that we are at the forefront of this initiative. From September 2018 we are delivering the Penn Resilience Programme throughout the School. This programme is considered the gold standard of resilience training and aims to provide our students with the necessary skills to bounce back from the potential adversities that life may throw at them.

For those pupils who do need extra support, our tutor system, overseen by Heads of Year, ensures that a tailored and individual plan, supporting and meeting the needs of that student, can be set up quickly and efficiently.

Bursaries & Scholarships

Bursaries
The School offers means tested bursaries, up to 90% of tuition fees, for all prospective and current pupils, normally from Prep 5 upwards.

Bursaries are not available when one or more parent is resident outside of the UK, with the exception of serving members of the UK Armed Forces and members of the UK Diplomatic Corps.

The main bursary award process is carried out in the first half of the Spring Term and applications should be made in the second half of the preceding Autumn Term.

Subject to available funds, applications for bursaries will be considered at other times of the year, on a half-termly basis, if parental circumstances change unexpectedly. The application process and the award of a bursary is kept in the strictest confidence.
