Gateways Schoolupcoming open day (click for details)
Gateways School is an independent school located in a delightful rural area on a 20-acre site in Harewood village between Leeds and Harrogate. The school welcomes girls aged two to 18 and boys aged two to 11. Gateways consistently achieves outstanding academic results, and in autumn 2012 received another excellent ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) Inspection report. Smaller class sizes, outstanding pastoral care and an excellent school-parent partnership ensure a personal education.
Gifted & Talented
At Gateways we pride ourselves on providing a personal education, offering appropriate individual attention and learning support as well as stretching and challenging each individual to meet or exceed their expectations.
The STELLA programme is designed to develop further the potential of able and talented pupils at Gateways. The STELLA School policy and programme are implemented and progressed throughout the school from Pre-Prep to Sixth Form.
Gateways is an inclusive school community that values all its pupils. We actively support all our pupils, including those who may find academic study challenging. Schools can be very demanding, more so if you are a child with learning difficulties.
Gateways welcomes pupils of all abilities and the school strives to provide a full and balanced curriculum for all its pupils in a professional and caring environment. Learning support is a valuable resource in meeting this provision. We believe that each pupil should be allowed to develop and to achieve their goals at a pace suited to the individual.
Bursaries & Scholarships
Gateways scholarships are awarded each year on the basis of merit and can be worth up to 25% of the fee.
We offer Academic, Music, Drama, Sports, Dance, Art and Design, Exhibition and Foundation Scholarships to pupils entering year 7, year 9 or year 12 who demonstrate exceptional ability.
Candidates may apply for more than one scholarship.
Scholarships will be applicable throughout a pupil’s career at Gateways, subject to an annual performance review.
Scholarships will be awarded following either examination or assessment and interview depending on the type of scholarship applied for.
A bursary at Gateways School is a means-tested financial award for families who would otherwise not be able to afford full school fees.
Bursaries may be awarded in addition to the award of scholarship.
