The Kingsley School

For over 135 years this school has had an excellent reputation for high academic standards and first class pastoral care.

What sets The Kingsley School apart from other schools is its distinctive family ethos and friendly atmosphere. We are immensely proud of the fact that everyone who visits us remarks on the happy staff-student relationships and the sense of community this fosters.

At Kingsley, pupils have a positive and purposeful approach to learning. The atmosphere here is unique; enthusiastic and approachable teachers inspire pupils to learn; behaviour is excellent and pupils are challenged and supported according to individual need. Where practical, we aim to personalise the curriculum so that students can reach their potential whatever their gifts and talents.

Girls and boys enjoy their time here and discover that at Kingsley the learning journey is a happy one. Our pupils learn that effort and hard work help them to become ‘the best that they can be’. Children thrive in our Prep School; outstanding teaching encourages a love of learning by providing a balance between the sound foundations for academic progress with character-building creativity.

In the Senior School a broad but traditional curriculum and many enrichment opportunities enable girls to flourish academically and socially, developing independence and becoming responsible, resourceful learners.

The Sixth Form at Kingsley combines the desire for academic success with the creation of confident and self-motivated young women who are well- mannered, well-rounded and well-qualified.

At Kingsley everyone is valued; pupils are names and not numbers.

Bursaries & Scholarships

The Kingsley School offers a number of means tested bursaries to assist with entry to the school. Please contact the Finance Office for more information, including an application form and information about the deadlines for applying.

Scholarships are available for application for students entering Year 7 and Sixth Form.

Academic excellence, achievement and high aspirations are key features of an education at Kingsley. As a result, a limited number of academic and Kingsley scholarships (up to 30% of fees) are awarded to a number of new Year 7 pupils in recognition of their academic excellence. Candidates for the academic scholarship will be selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination. This means that any Kingsley Preparatory pupils who wish to be considered for this scholarship should also register for the entrance examination.

Creative and performance scholarships (up to 20% of fees) are also awarded in recognition of excellence in and commitment to music, drama, art and sport. Selection for these scholarships will take place in the week preceding the entrance examination. Kingsley Preparatory pupils wishing to be considered for a performance scholarship should complete the scholarship application form. They are not required to sit the entrance examination. All external candidates are required to complete the scholarship application form and return it at the time of registering for the academic entrance examination.

Sixth Form Scholarships reward the very best. Gaining a scholarship to Sixth Form is a great honour and one that will open many doors in the future. Scholars can expect to go to the top of the pile when applying for higher education, apprenticeships or employment. Pride in gaining a scholarship award is immense and the status and prestige can be carried through life. At Kingsley we recognise that not every student can excel in every area so we offer a range of scholarships
to ensure that all students can be considered, no matter what their particular skill, talent or academic strength. The system aims to provide experience of a selection process alongside vital interview skills so that even if they are unsuccessful, students will benefit from the opportunity to be considered.
