Two St Margaret’s School for Girls pupils have been selected to represent the European Youth Parliament UK (EYPUK) at an international session in Porto, Portugal, following their outstanding performances at the UK National Session.

Magdalena and Eva, both in S6, were individually selected by the jury to represent EYPUK at the international session in Porto, Portugal. With only eight delegates chosen from across the UK, having two pupils selected is a tremendous achievement and a proud moment for St Margaret’s.

The selection follows their participation in the European Youth Parliament UK National Session, where they joined young people from across the country to explore complex issues, collaborate in committee discussions and take part in formal debates. Throughout the experience, they demonstrated thoughtfulness, confidence and a strong commitment to engaging with the issues that matter to young people today.

Their selection will give them the opportunity to build on this experience on an international stage, working alongside delegates from across Europe and representing EYPUK in Porto.

The achievement also reflects the dedication of the wider St Margaret’s EYP team. Charlotte, Erin, Emilie and Clarissa (all S6), alongside Faye (S5), worked incredibly hard to reach the National Session. At St Margaret’s, every girl is encouraged to find her voice and have the confidence to use it. The girls embraced the opportunity to collaborate with new people, develop their ideas and share their views confidently in formal debates, putting this ethos into practice throughout the experience.

All seven pupils demonstrated enthusiasm, resilience and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones, making the experience a valuable opportunity for personal growth and the development of their communication, collaboration and critical-thinking skills.

St Margaret’s School for Girls is delighted to celebrate the success of the entire team and congratulates Magdalena and Eva on their selection for this exciting international opportunity.

The next stop for Magdalena and Eva is Porto, Portugal, where they will take their voices and ideas to the European stage.
