Committees & Regions

The Girls’ Schools Association Regional and Committee Structure

Regional Committees – The Girls’ Schools Association (GSA) is organised into nine regions, led by a Regional Chair, who is a member of Council, GSA’s Governing Body. Members are invited to termly regional meetings, either in person or online, to connect with colleagues, share best practice, and build lasting professional relationships.

Standing Committees

GSA convenes a number of standing committees, each meeting termly to provide expertise, advocacy and peer support across key areas of school life and the wider education landscape.

GSA Boarding Committee – This committee supports Boarding Heads across the Association and champions the profile of UK girls’ boarding nationally and internationally.

GSA Education Committee – This committee works to influence national developments in educational policy and planning, with a particular focus on curriculum. It promotes the educational benefits of GSA schools, liaises with examination boards and Ofqual, and responds to national consultation exercises on behalf of Members.

GSA/HMC Joint Higher Education and Futures Committee – Operating jointly with HMC this committee reviews issues in Higher Education, including all aspects of university entry, both domestic and international, and disseminates timely information and guidance to Members.

GSA Inclusion Committee – The committee connects and equips those leading EDIB across girls’ school to challenge harmful norms and turn values into action. By sharing evidence-based practice, practical resources, and professional learning, we enable courageous action that builds inclusive school cultures where every pupil, colleague and leader feels seen, heard, and valued.

GSA Junior & Prep Committee – The committee represents the distinct needs and perspectives of Junior, Infants, Prep and Pre-Prep Heads in GSA planning events and training, ensuring their voices shape the Association’s work and support the needs of these Heads and their staff.

GSA Membership, Inspections & Accreditation Committee – This committee oversees all matters relating to membership accreditation, maintaining high standards and providing support for Heads. It monitors inspection reports and raises issues with ISI where appropriate.

GSA Safeguarding & Pastoral Committee – This committee keeps Members abreast of national developments in pastoral and safeguarding matters, responds to relevant consultations, and provides guidance and support as issues arise.

GSA Research Committee – This committee delivers one piece of research each year, promoting the case for single-sex girls’ schools and girls’ education and contributes to the wider evidence base for the benefits of girls everywhere.

GSA Sports & Wellness Committee – This committee promotes, supports, monitors and develops sport and wellness across GSA schools and in education more widely, spanning Junior, Preparatory and Senior Schools.
