Pupils at Portsmouth High School GDST were celebrating this morning after receiving their GCSE results; with almost half of all grades A*/9 and 94% grades A*-B equivalent.
‘We are delighted, once again, to celebrate an exceptional set of GCSE results achieved by our pupils,’ said Head, Mrs Sarah Parker. ‘These successes are a testament to their commitment and perseverance, the outstanding support of our teaching staff, and the culture of ambition and hard work that is embedded throughout the school. They also reflect the confidence, leadership and academic excellence that can flourish in a girls-only educational environment, where every pupil is encouraged to fulfil her potential without limits.’
Twins, Hettie and Molly, gained 20 top grades between them – with 11 x 9s, 4 x A*s, 2 8s and 3 x 7s.
‘There was lots of dedication to revision,’ said Molly. ‘Support from friends and studying together to try and make it fun, was definitely a factor in getting today’s results. That, and lots of snacks,’ she added. ‘I’m really excited about coming back for Sixth Form. All the teachers know me and I’m looking forward to studying for A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Religious Studies.’
Twin sister, Hettie, will also be studying for A Levels alongside her sister in Biology and Chemistry and will add in Politics instead of RS. ‘We mainly revised together,’ she said. ‘But lots of revision with friends too and we have had amazing support from teachers.’
Isabella, gained 8 x 9 grades and 2 x A*s and was thrilled with her results.
‘I will be coming back in September and really hope to become a doctor one day,’ she said. ‘I am just so pleased and excited.’
Chloe, was equally delighted with her grades of A*s, 9s and 8s.
‘I’m so excited. Definitely off to celebrate now,’ she said. ‘I’ll be back in September and really excited about joining the Sixth Form.’
Lauren, who received A*s, As and 9s will be returning to take Music as one of her three A Levels in September. She wants to pursue a career in music after earning international recognition for winning a top prize in a global competition run by the charity ‘Never Such Innocence.’
‘I have had so much support from my friends, my family and my teachers,’ she said.
‘This is a truly remarkable year group, and I am absolutely delighted for them,’ said Mrs Julie Parkinson, Head of Year 11. ‘Their results are a testament to the hard work, determination and positive attitude they have shown throughout their GCSE studies. It has been a privilege to see them grow and succeed, and it is wonderful to celebrate their achievements today. As they take their next steps, we are excited to welcome them back into Sixth Form, where we know they will continue to thrive and make the most of the opportunities ahead.’
