To launch Democracy Week in the UK, GSA in partnership with Political Education For Students is hosting ’The Political Future’ event.

There are numerous reasons to be hopeful and opportunities to be seized for the voters and leaders of tomorrow, especially for women, as they continue to use politics to break down barriers of representation in government, advance policy for women’s rights in education, healthcare and employment, and form grassroots political movements to tackle injustices on a global scale.

This is an all-day, in-person fast-paced event that reflects on the current political landscape and the potential for young people, especially women, to contribute. Exploring principles of democracy, citizenship, governance and policy, it seeks to examine and evaluate significant arguments, debates and themes that are prevalent in all of our lives, and our futures.

Whilst being an opportunity to develop political literacy, it is also about enhancing the skills that are required for effective citizens, voters and leaders: confidence, evaluation, public speaking, analysis, debate, presentation and collaboration. You will not only be absorbing new information, but you will also be presenting to others, working as a team and sharing your views on current perspectives.
