Northampton High School GDST is celebrating a fantastic set of A Level results today, with 42% of grades awarded at A* or A and 81% A* to B. An impressive 13% of students achieved straight A*/A grades, while 29% achieved at least one A* grade.

In addition, the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) was undertaken by 26% of students in the year group, with 100% achieving A* to B grades, of which 63% were A* grades. These outstanding outcomes reflect the school’s strengthening academic profile and the distinctive advantages of a Northampton High all-girls education.

As true advocates for girls’ education, Northampton High teachers are passionate about empowering their students to pursue areas of study and careers in which women have been historically underrepresented. It is therefore particularly pleasing that 42% of the Year 13 cohort chose to study Mathematics, collectively securing an impressive 62% A*/A grades. Not to be outdone, Philosophy, Religion and Ethics, Economics and Chinese also celebrated outstanding results, with 100% of candidates achieving A*/A grades.

The Head of Northampton High School GDST, Dr May Lee, commented: “We are unbelievably proud of our Year 13 students for some truly exceptional and richly deserved results, which have secured their places for the next stage of their educational journeys. Celebrating their achievements today has been an absolute honour. These impressive outcomes are the result of hard work, determination and resilience, supported by the encouragement and dedication of their teachers, staff and families.”

Dr Lee continues: “The Class of 2026 have not only excelled academically but have lived and breathed the High School’s ‘10% braver’ spirit throughout their Sixth Form years, inspiring the rest of the school with their formidable leadership and unstoppable enthusiasm. Well done and enjoy your success today: Northampton High celebrates you!”.

Dr Lee concludes: “They leave us not only with academic accomplishments to be proud of, but as empowered, confident young women ready to make their mark on the world. There is no glass ceiling for a GDST girl, and we cannot wait to see what they go on to achieve and the impact they will make in the world.”
