Kent College, Canterbury

Kent College is an independent day and boarding school for pupils from 2 to 18 years of age with a Nursery, Prep School, Senior School and Sixth Form. The Prep School is co-educational and the Senior School and Sixth Form will welcome girls and boys from September 2026. The school’s boarding community come from countries across the world including Nigeria, Mexico, Spain, Hong Kong and China. There are 400 students in the school, and the school is part of the Methodist Independent Schools Trust.

Kent College is located on 75 acres of beautiful countryside in Pembury, near Tunbridge Wells, Kent. All schools share the same site, facilities and specialist teaching staff. The school campus comprises of a Victorian manor house and purpose-built modern facilities, including the Prep School and Nursery, Library, Theatre, a Music School, Science Building, Sixth Form Centre and outstanding Sports facilities including flood-lit astro, two sports halls and a new swimming pool. There are outdoor learning spaces including Forest School and confidence course.

Academic success and outstanding care from the very start of school life ensures that the potential of all students is unlocked. Value-added scores are particularly impressive, with the school regularly placing in the top 10% or 5% of schools in the country.

Kent College works closely with local schools and organisations, and in 2019 established the West Kent Independent State School Partnership, comprising of 9 local State, Independent and Academy secondary schools.

Scholarships

Kent College offers a range of Scholarship opportunities at Year 7, Year 9 and for Sixth Form, available for Academic, Sport and the Creative Arts – Art, Dance, Drama and Music.
Scholarship include a fixed annual award of £2,000 which is deducted from the autumn term fees each year and are made to students demonstrating a particularly high standard of achievement or potential regardless of financial need. They will normally be held for the duration of a student’s time at Kent College, subject to satisfactory performance and commitment.
Scholars at Kent College are allocated a dedicated staff supervisor with whom they meet regularly. Their supervisor helps them to balance the demands on their time, their expectations and those of their teachers and the wide range of commitments that many of our scholars have.
Bursaries
Bursary support may be awarded in addition to Scholarships to enhance fee reduction. Bursary funds are available if parents can demonstrate, through a means-testing procedure, that they would not otherwise be able to send their child to Kent College due to limited financial means.
