Westonbirt School inspiring women conference
Pupils at Westonbirt School were challenged to “be inspired, be informed and be ambitious” at the annual Inspiring Women, Critical Thinking and Routes Ahead Seminar on Friday 20th January.
The inspirational seminar welcomed back a host of flourishing Westonbirt alumni to share with current students their route from school to successful careers. The speakers came from a broad range of industries including human resources management, event planning, theatre design and a medical student who left Westonbirt in 2013 returning to share her experience of placement in regional hospitals.
Student recruitment experts from Cardiff University, Sheffield University and Oxford Business School were among the speakers from higher education institutes. Internships and volunteering opportunities were explored and prestigious apprenticeship organisations presented exciting opportunities across the corporate and fashion industries.
Head of Information and Guidance at Westonbirt, Ann Dunn, said of the day;
“At Westonbirt, we believe in presenting all the options to pupils so they can make their own informed decisions and be inspired to work towards the best path for their route to success.”
Looking forward, Westonbirt expects to inspire many more young women in the future as they restructure fees to ensure the school is accessible to more families;
“As we begin to open our doors to more girls with reduced fees, this will produce even more talent and diversity for our school community to access and be inspired by.” says Headmistress Natasha Dangerfield
