St George’s School for Girls, Edinburgh, has been awarded a TOP 20 Recommended Nursery Award (Scotland) for its nursery in the Daynurseries 2018 Awards. Daynurseries is the leading UK nursery online directory and review website and their awards highlight the most recommended nurseries on their website in each region of the UK.

‘We are very grateful to our parents and carers for taking the time to write reviews for us, and to all our nursery staff for their commitment, enthusiasm and hard work. Effective parent partnerships are critical to achieving our aims, so the fact that the awards are based on reviews from parents makes this even more special and something we are incredibly proud of.
‘I would like to thank our nursery team, who give superb, and energetic care and support to our youngest children. We have an excellent, well qualified professional team of Early Years Practitioners, as well as subject specialists who provide regular lessons in PE, music and art, science, dance, yoga and languages.
‘In our nursery, we focus on children learning through play, outdoor learning and laying a solid foundation in pre-literacy, writing and numeracy skills. Outdoor learning, with its practical hands-on approach is a vital component. In our Fantastical Forest, part of our extensive outdoor adventure play areas, children experience building dens, planting vegetables and learning about nature. Afternoon sessions include trips to the beach for coastal learning as well as science with themed science activities.
‘Our nursery is part of our all-through school from 2 – 18 years, and here the seeds of every strand of the curriculum are sown; our curriculum is designed to progress seamlessly and coherently from nursery right through to Upper 6, and this aspect of the school was deemed excellent, or sector-leading, in the latest Education Scotland School inspection report.’
Run in partnership with The City of Edinburgh Council, the nursery offers part-funded places for 3-5 year-old children. Wrap-around care is available from 7.45am and until 6.00pm as well as holiday club, offering flexibility to busy parents.
