Recently Qualified Teachers’ Conference, 23 June 2020

On Tuesday 23rd June, The Portsmouth Grammar School will host its first “Recently Qualified Teachers’ Conference”. This will be a conference focussing on providing further support and professional development for colleagues who are either completing their NQT induction year currently or are in their first 3 years of teaching after completing their NQT induction. The conference will offer speakers, including Ross McGill the Founder of Teacher Toolkit, Dr Kathy Weston speaking about pupil resilience and wellbeing and Jo Treacy from the Chartered College of Teaching. Other speakers to be announced. There will also be the opportunity to attend workshops and there will be a TeachMeet at the end of the day. Workshops confirmed so far are Sarah Pavey who will provide an understanding of the terminology of information literacy, critical literacy and digital literacy; Colin Merrin who will lead a workshop on behaviour management and Eludend Pickup from the Southampton University, School of Education. There will also be workshops on personal branding, how to deliver engaging tutor activities, pastoral care, curriculum innovation and the importance of engaging with co-curricular activities.
