St Mary’s School was over the moon to welcome back, last Monday, their very own Gymnastics Super Stars after the Under 11 and Under 9 Gym squads celebrated phenomenal successes at the ISA Gymnastics Championships on Sunday 14th May.
The successes are a testament to the hours and hours of training and practice the girls have put in and the outstanding coaching they have received from Ms Connell. Their determination, commitment and teamwork, along with their clear talent and passion, has paid off at the National Championships.
The U11 team came 2nd overall with Betsy in 5th and Gabby in 2nd place as reserve national champion.
The U9 team won overall with Mia in 2nd place, and Jodi being crowned individual national champion.
Our Head Coach, Ms Connell, said “it has been an absolute pleasure working with the students in the run-up to the competition. Their commitment to their training and desire to win is inspiring and something they should be proud of. On the day, each and every member of the squad performed with confidence and self-belief. They supported each other and celebrated their group and individual successes with pride and grace. I cannot wait to start on the next challenge!”
Very well done to both squads. The Students’ SMS Spirit truly shone through, and the school community can’t wait to see what the coming years hold for their squads!
