Over Summer, Lara who is now in Year 7, and joined St Mary’s in Year 3, had the most fantastic experience playing Young Sofia in La Bamba – The Musical. Lara is a talented dancer, singer, and actress and bought her passions and talents to life when she performed at The Peacock Theatre in The West End, and The Wycombe Swan alongside some familiar faces including Pasha Kovalev, from Strictly Come Dancing and Siva Kaneswaran from The Wanted. Her stint isn’t finished yet, as in a few weeks Lara is heading to perform at Theatre Royal in Brighton.
Earlier in the year, Lara performed in her Year 6 production, at St Mary’s, as Fiona from Shrek where her talents shone through. The St Mary’s community are so incredibly proud of Lara – her commitment, passion and hard work are paying off as she chases her dream!
Lara is incredibly grateful to have the opportunity and said: “La Bamba is such a fun and uplifting musical! It makes you want to just get up and dance. I love playing the role of Young Sofia. It is the best experience and I am so lucky to get to dance, sing and act with the most amazing cast. I never thought I would actually be on stage dancing with Pasha Kovalev from my favourite show strictly come dancing. He plays my dad in La Bamba and Strictly’s Graziano Di Prima is the choreographer for the show. I also get to share the stage with Siva Kaneswaran from the group The Wanted. He is the loveliest person and is so caring and kind. The La Bamba sound track is brilliant and super fun. I am sure If you are planning to see the musical you will love it ! Thank you to all my amazing teachers and my friends for all of your support and kindness”.
