FHS Sponsored Walk raises nearly £26,000 for Great Ormond Street

4 December 2023

This year’s walk was a particularly special occasion as it coincided with FHS Regent’s Park’s 145th School Birthday celebrations, and the FHS spirit on display was electric. The sun was shining and cheerful chatter was heard throughout the afternoon, as gregarious gaggles of FHS students, staff, families and furry friends gambolled around our proverbial “back garden”, otherwise known as Regent’s Park. This year also saw perhaps our best ever selection of costumes, amongst both our human and canine participants. Check out the photos below for the winners of our costume competition, selected by our Help Fund Committee: Best Costume, Liberty with Otto; Cutest Dog, Sophia with Teddy; and our Overall Winners, Josephine with Bruno and Milo!

Following this, we were delighted to welcome Laura and Diane from Great Ormond Street Hospital to receive a giant cheque for over £25,795 raised through the spectacular fundraising efforts of our students, staff and parents. We heard from Laura how our donation will be used to fund the new children’s cancer wing and the state of the art facilities at the hospital. Well done to Farrah in Upper Fifth (Year 11), who proposed and promoted the charity with great success!

This is just one of the many unique and creative London-based initiatives which has seen us be named finalist for London Independent School of the Year 2023, and one of the many annual outreach initiatives which has seen us be named finalist for the Muddy Stilettos Best Schools ‘Give Something Back’ award. Thank you to every member of our busy, happy school community who gave so generously to this incredible cause, and who made this year’s walk such a success. We look forward to the many more amazing charitable initiatives in the pipeline for 2024.
