Three Players Make GB U19 Water Polo Squad

Three Players Make GB U19 Water Polo Squad

15 February 2024

Three water polo players from Bolton School Girls’ Division have made it into the GB U19 water polo squad. Harriet Dickens, who will captain the age group, along with Lucy Blenkinship and Amelia Crompton, who are both still in Year 11, will travel to The Netherlands during the half-term break for a training camp and matches against local teams. Their training is in preparation for the European finals which will be held in Croatia this summer.

Water polo coach Mr David Teasdale said: ‘It is quite a feat for a school to have one player make it to the GB squad but to have three is very impressive. Harriet will captain the squad again and Lucy and Amelia are both in fine form, having recently played in the U19s’ national age group finals where they scored 25 goals between them.’

All three players played for the Bolton School Girls’ Division U18 water polo team, which comfortably won through the preliminary national ESSA water polo qualifying round last week. Outside of school, Lucy and Harriet play for City of Manchester, who are riding high in the top flight of water polo and Amelia plays for promotion-seeking Tyldesley.
