Year 11 pupils at Farnborough Hill are celebrating a truly outstanding set of GCSE results today, with 42% of all grades awarded at 9 or 8, and an impressive 59% at grades 9–7, bucking the national trend, where just 22% of grades were awarded at 9–7.

This is a phenomenal achievement for the girls, who secured an average grade of 7 across the board.

Eleven pupils achieved a full set of grades 9 and 8, with a special mention to Jessica, who achieved grade 9 in every examination. This exceptional academic achievement sits alongside her impressive commitment to co-curricular life, particularly in music and sport.

The Classical Greek, History and Music Departments all averaged a grade 8 or above, while all three Sciences, Classical Civilisation, Latin, Computer Science, Design Technology, Geography, Religious Studies and Spanish all averaged a grade 7 or above.

But this cohort’s achievements extend far beyond their examination results. Alongside their academic studies, they have completed our award-winning Empower programme, taken on the challenges of Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, built award-winning Young Enterprise businesses, won National-level sports trophies and trodden the boards in multiple musical productions.

This breadth of experience is at the heart of a Farnborough Hill education: encouraging young women to discover their strengths, embrace new challenges and find their spark.

Mrs Maria Young, Headmistress, couldn’t be prouder:

‘The achievements of the young women here today have blown me away. To have their hard work and tenacity recognised so clearly is a testament not only to their determination to hold themselves to a high standard, but also to their teachers and wider support network, who have all played such an important part.

Our Value Added of an astonishing 1.1 tells its own story: each and every one of the pupils celebrating this morning has earned those fantastic grades and laid the groundwork for a bright future.

They have been a brilliant Year Group to work with – talented, ambitious and always willing to get stuck in. They are excellent role models for our younger pupils, and I know they will continue to thrive in A level study and beyond.

Huge, happy congratulations, girls!’
