St Swithun’s Prep School is a magical place with children’s happiness at its core. You can feel the positive energy as you walk through the door.
Confidence is fundamental to success so all activities are characterised by a palpable sense of fun and enjoyable challenge to ensure that pupils flourish, whilst simultaneously encouraging them to be courageous in everything that they do. The children learn that not all days are perfect and are taught to persevere and develop resilience, allowing them to be ready to take all opportunities that life presents.
Children are encouraged to be compassionate – to be kind and caring – and to be respectful to everyone else. Welcoming those of all faiths and those of none and, developing the children’s appreciation of diversity is of the utmost importance at St Swithun’s.
The weekly timetable is rich and varied; emphasising the core subjects but balancing them with a huge amount of sports, humanities, arts, languages and extra-curricular opportunities, such as sailing, gardening, ballet, music and baking. The children at St Swithun’s have the chance to sample a wide range of experiences and to shine wherever their interests lie.
The teaching and learning environment is spectacular both inside and outside. Set in 45 acres of grounds overlooking the South Downs, the prep school was purpose built in 2015 and has its own specialist facilities, including a gym, theatre, and teaching kitchen. It also benefits from sharing the senior school facilities, such as the swimming pool and athletics track.
