Fittingly in a school dedicated to all round achievement, top results were achieved across a whole range of subjects, including Art, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Spanish, Drama and IT. For many of the girls, this is in addition to passing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and individual Music and Drama examinations.
Headmaster Mr Mitchell was thrilled, “Once again I am delighted with our GCSE results but especially so this year as they are the best in our history. For two of the last three years 50% of our GCSE grades have been either A* or A, and in addition this year our A* – C pass rate is up to 98%. Nearly a quarter of the girls attained nine A* and A grades. Cobham Hall is not an academically selective school but we show what can be achieved by hard working pupils and dedicated teachers working in small classes in a positive environment. They have been ably supported by our superb pastoral staff and the pupils’ parents and all thoroughly deserve their success. I look forward to congratulating the pupils personally as they begin their Sixth Form studies at Cobham Hall in September. Well done!”
We thought the girls may do well in their English Literature examinations when they lived their Lord of the Flies studies and worked together to attend a Spring Term tag day as characters from the novel! The photo above was taken on that day.
Congratulations to all the girls for their fantastic set of results, and good luck in your future studies! We look forward to welcoming many of the girls back next term to begin studying for their International Baccalaureate Diplomas. For one of our students, Emma, the term will begin in Germany on a Round Square exchange, and so we look forward to welcoming her back after that adventure!
