Music Festival Showcases Range of Talent at Bolton School Junior Girls’ School

12 February 2018

The annual Music Festival at Bolton School Junior Girls’ School once again allowed pupils to show off their talents in front of an appreciative audience. In addition, every pupil in the Junior Girls’ School was able to spend time as a member of the audience, and they were joined by parents and family members as they enjoyed the beautiful music.

The Music Festival was split into two days. The first day was devoted to pianists, adjudicated by Kathryn Page, and there were classes for each year group. The second day was adjudicated by Philip Dewhurst, and focused on instrumental and ensemble performances. The classes were split into Vocal, Beginners, Strings, and Woodwind, Brass and Drums. Instruments included the double bass, saxophone, electric guitar, drum kit, violin, clarinet, ukulele and more! The Ensembles Class brought the Music Festival to a fitting close with pair and group performances.

Both adjudicators had the difficult task of awarding first, second and third prize for each Class, which was no easy feat as they were very impressed by all of the pupils! Each performer was given individual, constructive feedback and a certificate, with the prize winners additionally receiving trophies.

The support of the music teachers helped to make the two-day Music Festival a huge success. Junior Girls’ Headmistress Mrs Carol Laverick also gave special thanks to Mr Death, who expertly accompanied pupils on piano during their instrumental and vocal performances.
