Girls’ cricketers clinch bronze in maiden competition

Budding cricketers from a Monmouth school have clinched a bronze medal in their maiden competition.

The pupils at Monmouth School Girls’ Prep have only just started playing cricket and impressed at The Independent Association of Prep Schools’ (IAPS) Kwik Cricket competition in Shropshire.

The under-11 girls’ team registered two wins and two defeats from their four matches to finish third in the action-packed tournament at Moreton Hall, which involved five schools.

Monmouth’s team of Gwennan McConnell-Lawlor, Eloise Moat, Niamh Dorman, Daisy Potts, Bella Hull, Hannah Stone, Clementine Reed and Bella Chowns all enjoyed batting, bowling and fielding.

Final team positions: 1 Prestfelde (played 4 won 4)  20 points; 2 Packwood Haugh (played 4, won 3, lost 1) 16 points; 3 Monmouth School Girls’ Prep (played 4, won 2, lost 2) 12 points; 4 Birchfield (played 4, won 1, lost 3) 8 points; 5 Moreton Hall (played 4, lost 4) 4 points.
