GSA Launches ‘Dear Earth…’ Creative Writing Competition to Reveal Girls’ Hopes and Visions for the Planet

27 March 2022

Women writers have always illuminated their experience of the natural world through travelogues, diaries, memoir, and poetry; creating a diverse landscape for readers to experience the world though the female lens.

GSA is honouring this tradition by giving voice to girls in its annual writing competition, so we can see life clearly through the prism of their eyes. With the earth and planet uppermost in many minds the competition is designed to give expression to girls’ thoughts on the earth’s future, and to highlight how precious our natural world is.

So, if you have pupils who are a wonder at wordsmithing, snappy with a sonnet or flash with flash fiction encourage them to enter to get their voice and thoughts heard and so we can show the world girls’ experiences of the earth and planet now.

Every winner will be celebrated and hosted on our website and across our social media channels, and invited to make a video recording of themselves reading their winning entry, which will be broadcast to more than 100 GSA Headteachers during the GSA Summer Briefing on 13 June, when the winning entries will be formally announced.
