Internet safety and misuse of social media are among the topics being discussed at the annual Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools Wellbeing Conference.
Staff, parents, students aged 16 and over, and the wider community are invited to the free event at The Blake Theatre in Monmouth on Friday 30th June from 6.30pm.
Miss Sarah Fowler, Head of Wellbeing at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, said: “We have three fantastic speakers who will all be focussing on the current topics of internet and social media misuse among young people and the impact this has on our children’s development and behaviour.
“We hope to give everyone the practical tools and advice around how to protect the whole family at home when navigating the internet, gaming, and social media apps, and how to have meaningful, non-confrontational discussions around these subjects both at home and in school.”
Graham Mulhern, a serial entrepreneur and chief executive officer of BeSecureOnline, will address internet safety and the practical tools all parents should have in place to help their families stay safe online.
Amy Forbes-Robinson, from IT Happens, will talk about the impact of pornography, misuse of social media, the recent Children’s Commissioner Reports, and what children really want from parents.
And Michael Conroy, founder of the Men At Work Community Interest Company, will focus on how to have constructive conversations on being safe and staying safe at home.
Refreshments are available from 6pm in The Blake Theatre foyer and the evening will finish with a question-and-answer session.
