24 August 2023

Students at St. Francis’ College have triumphed in their GCSE examinations, continuing the College’s extraordinary successes over previous years, and once again producing its best-ever results. This year, 80% of all grades are 9–7 (equivalent to A* or A). Over 30% of all entries achieved Grade 9 and 58% are at Grade 8 and above. Grade 9 was the most achieved entry result. We’re incredibly proud of all our Year 11s who have worked so hard to achieve these impressive results. Particular mention goes to Laila, who achieved Grade 9 across all her subjects, to Chloe with ten Grade 9s and to Andrea, Scarlett and Sophia who all achieved eight or more Grade 9s. Mrs Tabitha Wilson, Head of Year 11, said: ‘Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it’s about developing skills, fostering curiosity, and cultivating a lifelong love of learning. And in that regard, our students are excelling beyond measure. The commitment, resilience and dedication they have shown to their studies during the last two years will undoubtedly shape the remarkable individuals they are becoming.’ The College’s Assistant Head (Academic, Director of Studies), Mr Daniel Carr said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled with the much-deserved examination success of our GCSE students, which is nothing short of exceptional. It was a wonderful occasion this morning for students to share their success with their parents and teachers. They have much to celebrate. The cohesive determination and excellent work ethic of this year group has contributed to their outstanding results, coupled with the support and guidance of their expert teachers and tutor team. I am immensely proud of the outcomes achieved by each and every student.’ The Head of the College, Mr James Nichols, said: “We are so proud of these students and their outstanding results. At St. Francis’, examination success is only part of the story, and so these grades are celebrated along with the many other personal achievements of this year’s cohort. It is just wonderful to witness how our robust and stimulating teaching, combined with our ethos of holistic development and sense of community, brings out the very best in our students, enabling them to not only dream of success, but to achieve it
