Wonderful news for Woldingham students receiving GCSE results today

24 August 2023

Woldingham students woke up to excellent news as they received their GCSE results this morning. Overall, two thirds of this year’s GCSEs awarded were grades 9-7. There were some fantastic individual results with one fifth of students achieving nine or more grades 8 or 9, and seven students receiving at least nine grade 9s.

‘I am so delighted for our students and take pride in their achieving an impressive set of GCSE results. They are a fantastic group of students who not only shone in exams but also on the stage in a host of music and drama productions that Woldingham is so well known for, on the sports field and in raising money for our House charities. Their support for each other over the last two years has been phenomenal. I have no doubt that these excellent results, and the resilience, determination and hard work they have demonstrated, will set them up for future success in Sixth Form and beyond’, said Terry Nunes, Head of Year 11.

Julia Harrington, Interim Head added: ‘Well done to all our students who took GCSEs this year. It is particularly pleasing that the results in physics, chemistry, biology, Latin, English language and humanities are particularly strong. I am so proud of their achievements both inside and outside of the classroom. I am looking forward to getting to know the year group as they join the Lower Sixth and, in particular, working together to finalise the design of our new Sixth Form Centre, which is currently being built and will be ready for their Upper Sixth year. Thank you to my colleagues across the school for teaching our students so well and helping prepare them for GCSE exam success and inspiring a lifelong love of learning.’
