Building on their outstanding IB Diploma results earlier this summer, Bedford Girls’ School have cause to celebrate today as they announce fantastic A Level results, with half of all entries achieving an A* or A grade (A Level and IB Diploma combined).
Overall 82% of all results were graded A*-B, 16% of our A Level students achieved straight As and A*s and 67% of our IB students achieved more than 40 points.
These impressive results have brought much deserved university success, including 4 Oxbridge places and 94% achieving a place at their preferred university.
Students will be heading off to study a diverse range of subjects, from anthropology to zoology. Destinations and courses include Chemistry with Mathematics at the University of St Andrews, International Relations at the University of Exeter, Mathematics with Mathematical Physics at UCL, Management with a work placement at the University of Bath, and Costume for Theatre and Screen at the University of the Arts London.
The Oxbridge courses secured include Experimental Psychology, Law with German Law, Law and Veterinary Medicine.
Two students have also been awarded scholarships to study at universities in the United States: the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Temple University in Philadelphia. Another student is set to begin professional flight training, taking the first step towards a career as a commercial pilot.
Mrs Gemma Gibson, Headmistress of Bedford Girls’ School, said: “I am delighted to announce some of our strongest ever results. We support and challenge every student to achieve her personal best; these results reflect the outstanding dedication of our students and the incredible teaching and support from our staff.
