Bedford Girls’ School is a dynamic, independent school for girls aged 7 to 18.
Committed to the education of girls and young women, we recognise a world of possibility in every girl and provide individuals with the tools they need to flourish. An exceptional community, where enquiring minds are nurtured and everyone learns to be proud of their achievements, Bedford Girls’ School is an environment where girls excel in every subject and activity.
Academically selective, we offer a board curriculum of academic and extra-curriculum subjects, delivered by first class teachers. In our 6th Form girls can choose between the International Baccalaureate or the A Level Curriculum ensuring our pupils leave us as confident young woman equipped to take on the challenges of the waiting world.
Gifted & Talented
Our philosophy at Bedford Girls’ School is not to seek, identify and label students as Gifted and Talented. This is not to say we don’t provide challenging and engaging opportunities for our talented students: we focus on creating gifts by providing opportunities inside and outside the classroom. We achieve this through our Challenge and Engage Policy.
We appreciate that even within an academically selective environment some girls have specific learning difficulties and need support. We offer them the help they need with our specialist support teachers who can offer one to one support on a weekly basis.
We provide a specialist study skills programme for those who find revising for examinations difficult, additional literacy and numeracy classes for Junior School pupils and support lessons for girls in the Senior School.
Our programme is co-ordinated by our Head of Learning Support, who identifies those with specific needs and who informs subject teaching staff of recommendations for best classroom practice for individuals.
Bursaries & Scholarships
We offer academic bursaries.
