We are delighted to introduce you to Newcastle High School for Girls. A flagship school for the Girls’ Day School Trust, it is built upon the foundation of two outstanding girls’ schools, Central Newcastle High School and Church High School and caters for girls aged 3 – 18.

It gives girls of the North East access to one of the best schools in the country and provides a unique education that equips them with all the skills necessary in the 21st century. None of us can know what the future holds, but by encouraging the girls to be confident, flexible learners, combined with developing the characteristics of independence, determination and resilience, they will always be prepared for the challenges of the future. At Newcastle High School for Girls, academic excellence is at the heart of the School. Its innovative and creative curriculum focuses on deep learning across subject disciplines and enables girls to learn without limits. What is learnt in the classroom is only half the story. What happens on the sports field, in art and music, dance and drama, or in clubs and societies is just as important. Newcastle High School for Girls is a hive of activity from early morning to late evening, with many opportunities available for weekend activities and travel further afield. The warm and relaxed atmosphere at Newcastle High School for Girls encourages self-confidence and nurtures self-esteem – both essential for success. Combined with superb pastoral care and a challenging and exciting environment, girls achieve highly.

Bursaries & Scholarships

You can apply for a bursary if your daughter is joining Year 7 or Year 12. The GDST Bursaries Fund provides financial assistance to suitably qualified girls whose parents could not otherwise afford the fees to enter or remain at our School. Bursaries are means tested and are awarded on the basis of academic merit. They can be for any amount depending on the financial assessment.

To find out more about the GDST Bursary Scheme, please contact our Admissions Manager, Miss Julia Howe on 0191 201 6511 or via email j.howe@ncl.gdst.net
