Queen’s School Pupils Planning for the future

Queen’s School Pupils Planning for the future

19 November 2018

Pupils in Year 10 travelled to Birmingham to attend the World Skills UK fair at the NEC, the largest experiential skills, careers and apprenticeships event in the UK.

They threw themselves into the many “have a go” stands including ones for medicine, forensic science, computing, 3D modelling, engineering and many more! Hundreds of leading employers were there to talk about careers with them and each of the four career zones had advice stands with information to hand out. They were able to watch students battle it out in competition finals for engineering & technology, digital, business & creative, health and Infrastructure.

Also during the day there was a full lecture series spanning a huge range of subjects from cyber-security to civil engineering to the fantastic fundamentals of biomedical science.

The day was aimed at the girls exploring how to identify their developmental needs and understand how to meet them, examining how they can get where they want to be and who can help them along the way.

Mrs Dawson felt that the day certainly encouraged the girls to think about their future and widen their possible careers choices.
