Budding linguists at Monmouth School for Girls have been recognised in a national competition.
Year 8 pupil Daniela Waters won first place for ‘Erste Klasse in the British-German Association’s Youthbridge competition which encourages pupils to take up German at school.
The students were asked to design something creative, for example, a game, to practise their German language skills.
Year 9 pupils Hope Farquar, Sophia Rose, Freya Dorman, Amelia Phillips, Holly Long and Carys McConnell-Lawlor were second after writing and designing a nativity piece for younger children.
And Year 8 pupils Hannah Robling and Isabel Harrison were third for devising an imaginative German language game.
